Happy new Year 2018

I really believe 2018 to be a great year. The World keeps on turning and is more unsecure for so many than ever. But I have a hope that Jesus Christ Himself will walk with you and keep you save. He is the key to make our lives wonderful. All we have to do is to surrender to Him and give him our lives and our plans.

Daevidius will in the the year 2018 release the third album. It will be awesome!

Order of songs Part II

Just a few weeks ago I published the songs who will be on Daevidius third album 'Beyond'. I thought I have it all clear but during the recordings for bass (in full bloom right now) I realized one of the songs were not really suited for the album. I started to look for another song. And tonight I have rewritten the lyrics and the arrangement for this song, 'Prophet'

The order of the songs of the album is now:

Reaching for the Stars ... Songs Re:visited and Re:written

The last month or so I have been putting much of the recording on hold. This is due to me sitting down playing the songs and singing them as well. I realized I had copied myself to much and that I could do so much better.

Tonight the last song is rewritten!! I thought I was done yesterday but I was not really happy with the last song (who will remain anonymous here..). I sat down today I rearranged the song, no new riffs but just re-arrange the stuff and simplified it. And now it is all complete!

Lets record some songs in the near future to come!

Order of songs of the next album

Now it is decided which songs and in which order they will appear on the next album. I have been writing to many songs and some of them wont fit in with the rest. So this is the final (well...) order:

Right now the songs are rehearsed and still some changes are made. Some of the material is in pieces and not complete. But I am inspired and full of energy. The timetable is set for this part of the process, let us pray it will be as planned or even better.

New Guitar Player?

Tonight I had a session with a old friend of mine. We played through the songs meant to be on upcoming album. Or at least half of the songs. And it was brilliant! It is always such a pleasure to join forces with great musicians.

Now we have to decide how to move forward.

Finally ... Reaching the stars!

Finally it is there; the sound I have been looking for. And this is for now for the basslines. The recordings of the basslines I have been doing the last couple of days sounds amazing. This is inspiring!

Reconsider and change strings for a new sound

As you know I have been recording now for a while. The last weeks I have mainly worked with recording bass despite hand injury last weekend. Mostly I have recorded slower parts of the songs since it is hard to play fast due to pain in the hand.

When I sat down and started to listen to the work I have been doing I realized I want I new sound. So in order for this to happen I decided to intonate the bass with new strings again. I hope I will suceed in completing this today but there is so much on the agenda.

New Method (Let the bass speak louder!)

I am still in progress of developing new ways to do things. And I am still in the process of recording bass, one of the most important parts of the songs. When recording bass this time around I figured I wanted to record two signals at the same time and from a real bass amp. This is due to me not being satisfied with the tone from the artificial amplifiers I use for bass mostly. So from the archives, or really from the live setting I got my old Laney amplifier who I use as monitor on stage and set it up in my studio. One microphone via Shure SM57 and one signal via DI output. And it already sounds so much better!

How to do things

And the wheel keep spinning around and around... Shall I record one song at a time? Shall I record all bass first and then add the rest of the instruments? Of course you start off with at drum track but what then?

A couple of months ago I draw out a plan just recording song by song. Now I have changed my mind. I think it is better to think in album format for now. So I will record each part by itself. The coming weeks its all about the bass and finishing the last songs in songwriting.

Let's do some design...

It seems a little bit odd beginning to design the album even before all recordings is completed... I am still writing material for the album, there are three songs remaining that still need to be completed. But hey, why not? So tonight I sat down and started to design the album. There is just one thing to resolve; who will be painting the album cover? Everything around I can design but you know; I am still no artist or painter. Let us hope and pray for another day...

Completed writing.. no ... wait

As so many times before, just when you think you are done and all set to go, you realize you can do so much better. And the last weeks this just came to my mind; I can do better and I will step up my game. So this week I will rewrite some of the songs and some parts of the songs to make them more catchy and heavier. The titles will still remain the same ... I think ...

Revisit:ed and Re:played

Just the other day a dear friend and musician came over for a mixing session and an outlook on the future. We go long way back and have been writing songs and recording together for a while. So we have many songs in store in the archives. And we thought to ourselves; why not unlock the archives? So we did.

To our great surprise and wonder we found some really intense songs and some really raw demos. We will dig out the remains of these songs and dress them in new clothing. It was really a happy evening to realize we have struck gold.

The most interesting about this is that this was pre-Daevidius so it will be issued under another name. At least some of the songs. Maybe some of these demosongs will turn into Daevidius or yet another project.

Time to be Meek

What does that word really mean? According to http://www.dictionary.com/browse/meek it means:

adjective, meeker, meekest.
1. humbly patient or docile, as under provocation from others. 
2. overly submissive or compliant; spiritless; tame. 
3. Obsolete. gentle; kind.

Quite interesting I think. And God got my attention the other day regarding this just the latest days. In the world of today we shall always boost ourselves. And especially as an artist or musician it is required of you it seems. But if we are humble and listen to people all around even when they treat you badly, try to see through stupid behaviors and see the man or woman behind. We all need love without conditions.

I have so many times in life been the opposite. It is time to be meek in the first meaning of the word; to be humble, patient even under provocation from others. It is time to show the love of God. Let us pray for a change inside all of us. Let us take this personally and challenge ourselves to be more meek knowing this is only possible through Jesus Christ. Let him lead the way.

Reboot... Restart...

During the last couples of days I have been trying out guitars for recording. I borrowed guitars from my friends and tried out a few of my own. And yesterday I began to lay down some bass lines. The drums and the synts has been programmed before. And even some bass lines have been recorded before. But why not do it all over again and see how it turns out?

The Plan for Recording... Updated

Everything in life is almost always a phase or  a sequence of things. Today I sat and wrote down yet another plan. I am good on making plans but I little worse on delivering them on time. This one, updated is more specific and more accurate. Let us pray it will work out fine and that I can deliver on a high level in every area.

The plan for recording is set ... finally

Yesterday I finally sat down and get a draft down when to record the next album. If the plan holds it seems like the album will be released just before Sweden Rock Festival 2018. We keep our fingers crossed it will be as planned.

You'll Never Walk Alone

Right now I have begun to write new songs. Songs that are intended to be just simple and plan mainly written for just playing on acoustic guitars. These songs will not go under the flag of Daevidius but it still is a big part of me.

I have attended a Larry Norman concert many, many years ago (If you don't know who he is check him out). I was young then and he really make an impression on me. It was just him and his acoustic guitar, so awesome. And later in life I have begun, as so many have, listening to Johnny Cash. I think he was awesome as well. A couple of years back I started playing with a friend some of his songs. And the songs that really stuck was the religious ones like Ain't no Grave. Somehow this experiment with my friend did not worked out.

Anyway, I feel that God has spoken to me about writing some songs in that vain. And so now I have started to do so. The first song to come out of this is Never Alone. I will not yet post the lyric here, it has to wait until I have recorded  and release it. But the subject of the song is so relevant. How come so many feel alone when they have all the stuff they need and can do so much? Why? It is simple. The void we all are trying to fill need to be filled by God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. It is that simple.

So keep searching and loving and living for God!

Inspired...

A few day ago I got the latest releases from two bands; Motörhead and Arch Enemy. I have heard a few songs from them beforehand. And I have been blown away with the production. This inspired me to work even harder with the mix to see if it is possible to get Daevidius new album just as bright and fine.

Next week I will start design the cover for the upncoming album. And the artwork of the LP from Arch Enemy is nice. I might as well take some ideas from the cover. The colorscale is in the same region as Daevidius albums. Really nice!

In silence we listen

In a world that is online all the time we at same times need to turn all our stuff off and go off grid. And I don´t mean living in Alaska. No, not at all. In order for us to listen we hear a lot better if we sit in silence. Or just listen to the voice of God. And sometimes God talks with a small voice.

And I have an example from this week in my own life. When I am going for a ride I still play CD:s in the car. One of the rides I did last week I picked an album by one of my favorite bands. This album is not one of my favorites since I think many of the songs are not that good. But I thought: "I will listen to it again to see if I change my  mind." Well... it did not change my mind in total but one of the last songs of the album really awoke and arose something in my spirit. And I got inspired. We will see if there will be a new song with a new style coming out of it. I really think so.

So by listen to my inner voice (who I think is a way for to God to speak to me) I might alter some of my ways and widen my perspective. That is nice!

In the Hands of God

We make plans. We try to create new paths to explore the world. We try harder and harder. We think if we just put a little bit more effort in it all we will prevail and conquer the obstacles in our way...

But God has a another way for us. If we pray and fast we will break through. And the result will be glorious. So therefore let us give our lives to God. Let us place our lives in his Hands.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
(Matthew 6:10)

If the plans will be as we hope there will be a single released during the fall of 2017. The first demo of the single is in the mix in the coming month.

Why is there suffering?

Right now I am learning so much about working in the studio. Learning about mixing and mastering and recording. And it is fun. But you have to have micro pauses. And what do we do then? We might surf the internet. And look what I found. Interesting subject, right?

Another day

Just another day gone by... Right now I have time off work and I realize how privileged I am. Yeah of course it would be nice to just live off writing, recording and producing music. On the other hand I have no boss or anything like that, I am free in to create whatever I like.

Today the weather has been perfect for a musician. Not that much sun, not really a chance to have a good time on the beach. So why not rearrange the vocal booth a bit and record (re-record really...) some stuff to see if the quality would be better. And I think it did get better.

I am still in the learning process of producing but I am learning and it is fun. And there is light in the end of the tunnel.

And so it continues... Tattoo #2

Yesterday I went to the tattoo-studio Zo Tattoo in Malmö, Sweden and got my second tattoo. A few years back I decided to tattoo my body with tattoos that matter to me. This second one is a mix between the Alpha Omega and the Chi Rho. Chi Ro stands for Jesus Christ. Alpha Omega stands for Jesus being the beginning and the end of all things.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, y“who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelations 1:8)

I have other tattoos planned but for now we keep the testimony on my body like this

Metal With A Mission

In life we sometimes struggle with the meaning of life. Some struggle more than others, some seems to live life in the easy lane. I think we can agree life in itself is not always just. I believe in order for life to get real meaning you need to have a purpose, a mission.

Daevidius writes and plays music with a mission. We believe in Jesus Christ and he is the only way to God. There are no other ways. And God loves all of us no matter what we have done. Or what we have done. We believe in relationship with God and the Holy Trinity. We dont believe in religion. We are the opposite of religion.

Sad to say so many believers are judgemental and are focused on the sins instead of the people. Watch the video below when Brian Head Welch talks about this issue:

Rocker Brian Welch Plays Metal With A Mission (Extended Interview)

Still...

During the summertime it can be hard to work efficient. And this year has been a fun ride but not that much time to spend on producing and writing. I am right now catching up and have just started a new phase that I have planned for a long time. Many plans have been in the pipeline for a long time but now, at last, I begin to see light in the tunnel.

One of many things I have been having in pipeline is producing, in other words recording, mixing and mastring. It seems right now as this will come to life. I have prayed to God to help me out. And for the first time in my life I think it is fun and I can focus.

So be patient, material will come out during the fall of 2017!

Hate Religion, Love Jesus

It is time to leave religion behind. Religion enslaves people. But contrary to many others I think not all religions are evil. And most of all religion is not the source to all evil. If that there the case, atheistic states would not started wars and be injust. But as we all know; that is not the case.

Jesus is the answer. We really need to connect to him and be his friend. He is the only One who can save the world!

Explosion and Fireworks

Some things take a long time to do. And everything worth doing is worth overdoing, is it not like that? The last year I have had many things on my plate and not so much to do with music really. Of course I have worked with songs, I always do. But finally I have started to record and it goes really well. How come one can wonder?

I think I have a answer to that question. Since I started pray and fast more and ask God of specific guidande, wisdome and efficiency, thats when it all started to take off.

So don´t hesitate to pray and fast. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.

FIrst song to go

Started recording for real these last days. It is a process. Anyhow; I've decided to finish the song "Come Follow Me" first. Today and yesterday we have worked on the bass. Hopefully I will get it done tomorrow.

Making gamesounds

In the middle of the process of recording, songwriting, educating myself with online courses for music theory my very talented and gifted son asked me if I could help him out with creating game sounds. And it turned out really well. So exciting and fun to achieve a good result in new areas.

The Reason for Easter - Jesus is risen from the dead!

Jesus was dead for three days and nights and then came back to life. Let us celebrate our Savior! He died so that we may live forever in harmony and peace. Most of us has to pass over the bridge of dying. But someday we who believe and adhere in Jesus will see his face. What a glorious day!

1 Corinthians 15:55-56
O death, where then your victory? Where then your sting? For sin—the sting that causes death—will all be gone; and the law, which reveals our sins, will no longer be our judge.

Jesus says in Revelations 1:18:
I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

So enjoy this day and celebrate.

One of the greatest feasts of the year is upon us.

Today, Good Friday, we remember how Jesus Christ gave his life on the cross for all our sins, mistakes, sicknesses, unhappiness and so on. If you accept him as your savior you will receive true love that never fails, a peace out of this world and rest in your heart.

As Joh 3:16 - 17 says:
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

All you have to do receive peace and love is like Romans 10:9 says:
For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Don't be afraid

There is no reason to be alarmed dear friends. These days there are so many news about terror.

My advice: Read the Bible and see what it says for yourself. Search for God Jesus Christ and he will be found. He will always be there for you even when everyone fails you.

(Song Series XVI) - Why I wrote 'Valley of Death'

This is my personal favorite track on this album together with I Hate Religion and Fight. This is so different and progressive. The way song is put together is kind of strange since it starts off with two choruses.

The lyrics are basically an interpretation of Psalm 23.

Back in the 80's a Swedish band, Leviticus, did this psalm and I really liked that song. The verses in my song is heavily inspired by how they put it all together.

Studio work in progess

OK, this night was not for Daevidius. But it is about a great friend of mine, Anders Jönsson. We are writing some heavy stuff and it is coming together really nice. We just start off with lyrics and a base of drums and synts and go from there. And it really sounds good I must say! And for sure we will benefit from this project in Daevidius as well.

Sometimes things take time...

For the last two months I have been working on the vocals by writing down and recording all vocals with piano. I thought it would be a walk in the park but it wasn't. But I have learned so much these last months its incredible. And now I have gained some speed. The ideas and melody's for the vocals are just popping up all the time. And faster and faster it goes.

Hopefully all the vocallines will be completed in a month or so.

One other thing as well; I have earlier said all song was completed. But that is no longer the case. I have now started to rewrite Back to the Start. And so it begins!

It might sound strange but this song musically is inspired by Aces High. The way the music came out is however not even close but the way arrange the song has some similarities.

So what about the lyrics? It is about celebrating the Warrior King. It is about never giving up. Even in the darkest of hours, God is there, He has his time and purpose. He has his way of doing things we don't understand. So let us celebrate the most glorious king ever.

(Song Series XIV) - Why I wrote 'Fight'

This song is one of my favorites. I like how it turned with a lot of riffs in a perfect mix. There were also discussions about doing a version with growl but this idea was not realized (yet..)

The theme of the song is that is supposed to be a anthem. I want to get the feeling to everyone to never give up. When God is on our side we simply can not lose. It sometimes seems like we do. We walk and fight as if in a desert. Nothing goes our way. But remember; a war is just one battle. Just keep on fighting, never give up. You have not lost until you give up. It is almost never too late. And a victory can be achieved even when the numbers are few.

Recognition

Sometimes life surprises you. Just the other day I got a letter. Mostly these days the most letters are from authorities and pretty depressing. Working with vocals

Writing and recording and for that matter all kind of creativity is a process. And in this process; I have decided, for the first time in many years, to sit down by the piano and note-by-note write the vocals.

For the two albums this far with Daevidius I have always improvised the vocals, both lead and harmonies. So in a attempt to record better songs and to write more catchy vocals I will go down this lane. And it is already in good process just after a few hours! But it will be an great amount of work since it is so many songs I have decided to record. I have not yet counted how many but I know they are numerous...

Maybe, maybe, some of the old songs will get treated in the same way! Keep yourself posted!

Finally it seems! This is a day of glory, a day to rejoice. Just a moment ago I finished writing the last song for Daevidius album number 3. And I started recording for real!

New Style

I might seem odd but I really feel this year will include a lot of change. Change always come from the inside but I have decided to start a change on the outside as well. First to go was my beloved beard who has been my companion for three years now. This is just the first step towards something new and better.
