(Song Series III) - Why I wrote 'The Demon and The Angel'

Some years ago, in 2010, I divorced my wife. This was due to many reasons. And the fact was, and in some ways still is, mostly on my part. Problems occured and was present during my marriage that never was dealt with, primarly due to us dont knowing what was causing the drama.

Shortly afterwards I wrote the song 'The demon and The Angel'.

The song is about two central themes:
1. A relation turning bad with a lot confussion of what to do.
2. The battle between good and evil.

The first theme is pretty obvious I think. The other one is pretty subtile. The first two verses is from the demons perspective; just leave me alone, I want to torment you angel, confused but still clear in his mind that the angel is superior and can smite him down any second. Still he knows in his mind the battle is lost but he still wants to carry on. And in the third verse you can see this quite clear. He wants to reach for freedome but realize the case is lost in reality. And the third verse really implies more to the first theme.

Psalm 33:3 - Play it loud!

I read the Bible this morning. And there was a beautiful message to us all Metal Heads and Songwriters (the scripture is from Psalm 33:3):

Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully [on the strings] with a loud and joyful sound.

So let us all celebrate this weekend by writing songs and play it loud! And sing songs to God on full volume!

And by the way; the last two songs is in process to be completed, hopefully this weekend. Soon we can begin to record new songs.

(Song Series II) - Why I Wrote 'Traveller'

Do you remember the song 'Stranger in a strange Land' by Iron Maiden (from the album 'Somewhere in time' (1986))? This is partly one leg of the inspiration of the lyrics of this song, 'Traveller'. Another inspiration for the song 'Only Visiting this planet' by Larry Norman (R.I.P.). The theme, in a very sublime way, that we are only strangers here. We can not find what we are looking if we are not looking to the true source, the creator of all we see, God Father of All. If we look to other places we can find some kind of relief but we will still be wanting. And we still will be longing for some other place after we have reached what we thought we searched for.

An old friend comeback

Just the other week I sent an oldfashioned letter to a friend of mine who I have not seen in many years. He is a brilliant guitarplayer and a wonderful person to be with. And to my happiness he sent me a text tonight. He is keen on teaming up again. Lets pray and see where this will lead us.

(Song Series I) - Why I wrote 'Heaven or Hell'

The other day I said to myself: Why don´t I write something about why I wrote the songs to begin with? So here comes the first part in a series about why I wrote my songs, The songs will be presented in the order they are produced on the albums.

The theme is two different persons. One dies and goes to Heaven, the other one dies and go to Hell. The idea is why discuss if these places are fictional or real, we all will know when we die. Will we live forever? Will we all go to Heaven? Is there a Hell? Noone really knows, It is just a matter of acceptance and belief. It is irrelevant of what you and I think. One day we will know what was true and what was false.

Songwriting in full bloom

Could the summer be better than it is right now? It is cloudy, the temperature is moderate. And I am free from my dayjob. So what does it mean? Shouldn't we complaining about what is going down? About the "bad weather"? I say no!

It is perfect weather for songwriting in other words! And tonight we will complete the 8th track that might be recorded for the new album. Inspired like never before, it is really moving forward!

In the coming weeks and months I will reveal what every song yet published by Daevidius meaning to me. And above all why I wrote these songs. So stay posted!
