Backup and revaluate my role as singer - Let's fly!

The last week I have been active in take a walk through the lost tracks of yesteryears. This is due to create a more durable and faster process. And since I still can not sing because of  my health (believe the vocal cords have been infected or something) I had a lot of time of thinking about how I practice. The conclusions are; It is time to fly like an eagle and be more independent; to believe in my competence, to take the next step and evolve even further. To connect with all the lovely people out there.

For many years now I have been relying quite heavily on the resources on the internet and even my vocal coaches. I have learned aboundently but still need more. And now I will put my crutches kind of in the background. I love my Ken Tamplin and all the others but now is the time to let go and fly!

The first step in this is completed this very night. I have created a plan for my vocal exercises. It will be a blast!

Bump in the road (vokalist)

Roughly a month ago I came down with sickness. It affected my vocal cords with, probably, some kind of infection or virus and lead to me not able to sing due to hoarseness. I am now in progress of slowly, bit by bit, restoring my health. I try to rest and not use my voice (not easy..). The downside of this is I have not been able to practice the new vocal lines for the up´n´coming recordings for all the songs in pipeline. But who cares? It is just a little bump in the road.

Update Studio - Vocals demo stage 3 + bass sessions

As mentioned earlier;  being creative is a process. Yesterday and today I have spent listening to and adjusting vocal melodies for the songs in pipeline. About nearly a month ago I did the first version and thereafter I have been re-recording vocals all over again. Today I thought the time has come to finalize and decide if it was good enough. To my pleasure; I adjusted just small bits and pieces for the vocals. 

One other major things was to check out the bass lines. All are complete and really good except for one, who I rewrote not that long ago. This last piece will be recorded shortly!

Upgrade Live Gear

Slow and persisent, I add stuff to my live gear. This one seems a little odd, since it should be long-coming. I just purchased one more hardcase. This one is mainly for when performing locally and in Sweden. I havent had a hardcase for my backup bass, so this is the one!

Update Studio - Vocals demo stage 2

Well, life spins in circles, or..? Just this very day I completed stage 2 of writing vocal melodies for ALL songs on the new album with Daevidius. Strange how fast I have worked this time. Imagine completing 13 songs' vocal melodies in just under a month, despite the fact Shiverpush and fulltime work take so much time. I have one confession to make though. I am accelerating into more and more prayer; I am turning to the one who can help if we want him to; God. 

After finalizing all I have now to learn the lyrics by heart and practice like crazy. This will be a blast.

Bass & Vocal Sessions completed for demos

My top priority for many, many years has been Daevidius. As you might know, there is a new album in the making. Today I completed both all the bass tracks and the demo vocals for all songs. The next step os tp work with finalizing the melodies for the vocals and then practice and make them sound great.

Sometimes being a composer is quite good and blessed!

Yet another song - Water my Soul

No more new songs written but when scanning the folders I found yet another tune. I decided to add it to the track list. This one is a soft instrumental namned 'Water my Soul'. Total, in all, I now have 15 tracks. Let us see how this will develop. The creative process is always interesting.

Last song for new album written... for sure(?!)

6th of october I posted "Rewritten material ... yet again". I mentioned in this post I had one more song to write. Well; now I have completed this song. During this process the outcome now is three more songs. I am not sure of all will end up on the upncoming album. The titles are Open the gate, Open the gate (Prelude) and Fall Down. I am convinced these titles are of importance in the spiritual realm. If they are meant to be for you; well... pray for the proper tracks to be released.

Rewritten material ... yet again

Just a couple of weeks I stated in the post "Final Cut? Final Cut!". In that moment it was a fact but since then I have reconsidered. And so it has been many times before. Maybe I should just not say it is final? Well there are still a song to be written as well. Which songs that will end up on the album I am not sure of yet.

Under the mist

Back in 2009 me and my friend Anders Jönsson recorded a demo. For some reason; we decided not to release it. We have now picked up one of the songs, Under the Mist, and started to record this song again. I am now considering to release this song under the flag of both Sons of Perelandra and Daevidius, since the song was originally asigned to Daevidius.

New gear (Ampeg)

As mentioned elsewhere I am a official member of Shiverpush as well. There are some liveshows coming ahead and a new setup in the rehearsal room. I needed to move ahead and change my setup. Well; I went to a old style musicstore in Helsingborg, Beme Music and tested out some amps. My decision was Ampeg, a small combo. Let us hope this is good enough for now. And all the know-how I am learning in Shiverpush, spills over to Daevidius as well. Only God know what the future holds in store for us all.

Final cut? Final Cut!

So it is final now... the final cut of  the next Daevidius album. Kind of I believe anyway. For so many years, or should I say all my life; I have always been working on many songs side by side. But now; it is dead and gone. After a couple of days, maybe a week or so, I nomore have songs in the process. Some old stuff are archived "forever" and some I finalized tonight and yesterday. This will make the new album a different kind of story. This is the final cut! And the list of songs is final; might be cutting some songs of that list, we will see.

And so it begins... episode 1 - recording bass

It has been a long time coming... Finally; I have started the recording process for the up'n'coming new album. This very day I started up the recording of all bass for the new album.

Remade all templates for album and singles

I have been quite busy this weekend socializing but to my amazement I was succesfully completing and recreating all the templates for the songs I am planning to record. And note; this is not just for Daevidius but almost for every other project I am involved in as well.

48k vs 44k

Back in the saddle again; it is time to pick up the torch and go ahead with Daevidius again. Sad to say; there has not been much time to record for Daevidius due to worktime and my role in Shiverpush. But now I have decided to focus on Daevidius as well.

One of the first technical "issues" is what sample rate to use; 48 kHz or 44.1 kHz. I have alwasy used, despite the fact many several years ago done it differently, 44.1 kHz since it should be enough; the human ear still can not percieve the difference. But, for now on, I have decided to move to 48 since it is the standard for video production.

More songs on the album?!?

Just a month ago I declared all the songs completed for the album (måndag 30 juni 2025 "All songs completed for new album"). For the time being it was true. I since then, only 30 days (!), reconsidered; actually I believe I did it as soon as I listened back to back on all the tracks. It just needed some extra flavour. So for now there are two extra songs to choose from. These compositions are not yet completed and the reason for this you will be notified about.

Reshaping songs - The Ship -> Would you believe?

When you take a long time doing things, there is too much space for alterations. So why not? I am currently working on a song namned The Ship. It is in progress but I came to conclusion that the lyrics was too mainstream for Daevidius. When I rehearsed songs for the recording I realized (Maybe God spoke to me?) there was a lyrics that need to be included on the album. In other words; today I will try to see if this works. The old lyrics "The Ship"? Well; I have a plan for the old lyrics as well. Check out post "Lyrics The Ship" on David Bengtsson blogg.

Death is only the Beginning I & II

There are a couple of old songs; originally meant for a rock opera. This rock opera was never completed and is sent to the vaults (forever?) but there are two songs with the theme of Death is Only the Beginning set to be released. These are already registered at STIM so why not rewrite, complete and release? So this I did. 

My plan is to release them in the near future.

Shiverpush

This is not actually related to Daevidius. But still this is related since it has a lot to do with me as bassplayer. After being offered the position as a bassplayer I went to audition a couple of weeks ago; actually it was two auditons a week or so apart. And it was really a no-brainer. So now I have added yet another band to my list. This might skyrocket, who knows?

All songs completed for new album

What a glorious day this one became! Before going to Africa in january I thought I had all songs down for the next album. When coming home again I realized, I could for sure step up my game. And so I did. Today I penned the last changes on the last song. I now have 10 songs to record. What a blessing!

REBOOT with vocal coach at Mindvoice (Trauma)

In the late summer of 2024 I engaged with Ingvar Bengtsson at Mindvoice. I needed to take new steps ahead with my vocal performances and climb the ladder up to the top. During my trip to Africa I did not practice songs at all and did not perform any vocal practices. Since I came home to Sweden I have rested from this as well but I knew; some day I will pick up my vocals again. And tonight I booked my first session for this year. I was excited and a little bit nervous. But I must say; I have truly lost some of my traumas. Without me not praying about it, God made a change in me and released me of fear when I skydived in Namibia. Right after landing, I went into a deep state of tranqulity and a sense of knowing there is never any reason for fear. This was confirmed in this session with Ingvar. I am truly full of joy and happy, can hardly believe this miracle.

Back in the Studio

For almost since the start of the year I have not been in the studio working with song. Yesterday I started it all up again. And I must say; what a joy and delight it was! For sure; taking that much time off has been good for the creative process. And of course; also adding spiritual behaviors as prayer and confession; it seems to really pay off. I am excited! How will this turn out?!

Iron Maiden 50 years

 

I am not sure of I have told you this before, but I am a huge Iron Maiden fans. Yesterday I went to Copenhagen to watch and enjoy their show. What a show it became! We all grow older but it is the way we do it that matters. And even though there have been a couple of changes in the band, it is still a pleasure.

That time of the year - Sweden Rock Festival

 In a few days, Sweden Rock Festival will start. And as usual the kickoff for me will be working at the festival. And actually; working there is a real nice treat and kind of the first thing to enjoy. And on the bill there are bands like Slipknot, Korn, Sabatan, Stryper, Kreator and so many more. I will for sure enjoy this with friends and family!

Rewinding the upcoming album

I just sat down and scanned this blog and realized; I have some problems with deciding what to do. Well; therefore it is best this time around to wait for publishing the tracklist for the coming album. It started out as a EP and is now an album; maybe I wait for it. I mean til the songs are recorded, at least in an initial phase. It is funny, or tragic, I have been for at least the past three years working on this album. But let us not rest on the past. 

I am for the moment, yet again, rewriting and writing some new material for this album. The plan is to start recording in mid june.

Rewriting songs - a fresh start

Since I left for Africa there have not been time to write new material. There has been a lot of thinking about the way forward. Should I keep it as it is? Should I rewrite? What to do? And now; finally; I have come to a decision. I have started to rewrite songs from the past as well as working on new material for Daevidius and all the other projects I am involved in. This will be fun!

REBOOT - Time to Reboot

As you might recall; in the last post in this blog I mentioned greater things will be going down soon. Tonight I pulled out all the archived files to get a clearer view and to reboot this part of my life. But of course; first I need to throw away and recreate myself. A little bit diffuse, I know, but it will be clear as day latter on.

Travel a new road ahead?

Well I have been home in Sweden for just two weeks after spending two monts overlanding Africa spending much time on the road from Kenya to South Africa. Since I was not able to create music on the road due to a line of factors I had a lot of time spending doing nothing. In relation with this I have done so many "things" outside the box for me (and I still have a lot to do outside the my comfort zone) and I must say; in so many ways it has profoundly changed me.

You might say; this has nothing to do with Daevidius or has it? I think I differ in opinion in this. I am not sure exactly what will go down but there are some new ideas out there.

So please stay tuned for something totally different. Or maybe I giant leap ahead.

Transformation of songs (The battle within)

Writing songs is a process that is hard to describe. And sometimes looking at the result is kind of amazing. It is like something has come alive.

One example of this is one of the new songs planned to be on the next album. I will not disclose the title of the song yet but soon you will all know. Let us call it by the latest name; The Battle Within. Let us dive into this. I simplify the steps:

The Battle within -> splits into (acoustic) Circle of Love -> Circle of Love splits into King of Kings and Circle of Love -> Circle of Love is taken out to solo project -> King of Kings split to The Battle Within and parts of King of Kings is rewritten -> The Battle within is partly rewritten as well as some old parts added -> The Battle Within needs a new lyrics and new parts of music is written -> New song to be presented.

Talk about it being hard to explain.

KTVA - Complete - Learn At Your Own Pace - Better Pitch 2

On my journey in Africa I wanted to be able to practicing vocals. For the last couple of years I have been practing with Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy almost daily and I thought he will be with me on this trip as well. 

At this stage, at the end of the trip, I must say there has not been an oppertunity to be alone. So in other words; I have to pickup the issue with pitch and other things when I land in Sweden in the middle of march.

Back to the start vol 2

There is always a way ahead, right? Sometimes; could it be correct or good to go back in time. I am not really sure... Anyhow... 

Back in october (27) last year I published a post about reviewing the past. The process is still on and me being in Africa for a time will change so much. I keep on praying for this and in time it will be known to you all.

Stage Fright (Ken Tamplin)

Many musicians and performers suffer from stage fright. Why really? The main reason being fear. Why fearing other peoples opinons? And it is like Ken Tamplin stated: "Your failure is someone elses joy" (or something like that). Just relax!

New way of writing song melodies (KTVA)

Right now I am on the border between Kenya and Tanzania.

1st of december I listened to Ken Tamplin and inspired by him I decided to try out a new way to write song melodies. This is one of my new ways:

1. Play the chord sequence repeating again and again
2. Hum a nonsense lyric or written lyrics on top
3. Sing it
4. Do both together

Could it might work?

New Tattoo 2 - Lion of Judah

And here comes the presentation of the second tattoo I have let done as a preperation for my travels in Africa. This was done on 12th of december at Bridgemill Tattoo, Bromölla as well by the excellent Dennis Östlund. This session was a whole day and I completed two tattoos. 

This one is a statement for supporting Israel and my belief in Jesus Christ, the Lion of Judah as well as a mark of strength and victory.
