The way forward - writing songs

Lyrics Explained Pt 7 - Deceiver of Souls

This is the story about the fallen angel Lucifer and it is based on some scriptures from Tanakh, mainly Ezekiel and Isaiah. Some people who are not well educated in the way the Scripture is written and the context may say this is about some persian ruler or the King of Tyre. It is of course that as well but the way prophecy works is has so many more layers. Anyway it deals with how Satan looks at himself but also the coming doom for him. We all will marvle how small he really is. Remember; he is the Angel of light and the deceiver.

Videoshoot Part I

Yesterday we went to Åhus to shoot some cutscenes for the upcoming video. It was reallu a blast and went very well. Perfect weather conditions and perfect temperature. And in just three hours we managed to deliver nice shots! This was just the first leg and it will be completed with a second leg.

Lyrics Explained Pt 6 - Gates of Hell

This one proclaims "Hell will fall" and this is a statement with a passus. From the stand and the point of view I have in this song is a story about how I was trapped in hell and how Jesus Christ set me free. Of course it is in a litteral way but more of allegorical. This does not mean hell inself does not exists so do not be confused. 

The lyrics also deals with how Jesus defeated Satan when he died on the cross. And of course how when we decide to follow Jesus he sets us free from the living hells we sometimes are dwelling in.

I am kind of prophetic in many of my songs and this is an attempt to show that and the mind of the Prophet. It also touches the spiritual realm and how the prophet can be a bridge from the unseen reality to the known world as we think we see it. 

I am also trying to point out the importance of solitude. In the calmness and the solitude we can hear God and adjust our ways to comply with his. Without taking time with God we will get lost. We are not gods of our own even if many think they are.

And in the solitude, the fasting and the praying we get dominion to work for God and dominion over the devil to set people free. When the prophet opens his mouth he can with one single word set the captive free.

This little post is just touching what I am trying to say. And as usual; if you want to understand more dont be afraid to chat me up.

Lyrics Explained Pt 4 - Bring me Life

The chorus is simplistic and is just a few words of prayer to God for freedome.

The verses are some kind of a story how the search for freedome and happiness went utterly wrong. Words used are with absolute certianty chosed with carefulness and there are keywords in there that for sure point you to another story. You could say it refers to a very popular "technique" used today all over the world to set you free. In my mind, without even telling what it is really about, this popular technique is behind the chaos of the world today. Or rather; one of the reasons, the picture is complex.

So this time around, with this lyric, I speak in riddles. On the other hand, would you like to know the thoughts behind and if I think you can handle the truth, do not be afraid to contact me and find out the real meaning about this lyrics.

The main theme for this lyrics is pretty simple. The One I believe is the only way to God and everlasting life; Jesus Christ the Messiah will return. It might be hard to grasp if you do not even believe in him. You might think he is a fable, just a fairytale with no substance. But I dare you to reach out to him and shout out his name. He will prove himself to you. 

As stated the lyrics is pretty straightforward and no nonsense. 

One day they whole world will see Him come on the skies. Some will be filled with fear when they see His glory, some will be filled with joy. Now it is time to choose side.

Lyrics Explained Pt 2 – New Worlds New Heavens

 This is the second part of explaining the lyrics on the new album.

Too much time and too much focus these days are to save this world. Some even say we only have a couple of years to go before all the world will be lost and we all will die. I am convinced to 110% this is not true. How come you might say? Well it is due to the fact I am a christian and believe what the Bible says. You can call me a fool and insane but that does not matter. I am rock solid and firm in my belief.

Now you might say: Does the bible speak about our time? Yes it does. And more specifically it talks about the end of times when Jesus Christ will come back to set the record straight with evil and make everything new. There will be a new world(s) and new heavens created by God when the time is right. In the meantime this planet will exist as it does now. And the peoples living here will keep on living here. Yes there will be great natural disasters but that does not mean earth will come to an end.

Just like you and I are reborn when we believe in God and Jesus Christ, this world will be reborn. 

Looking forward to the real future and it is bright!

Lyrics Explained Pt I - Born In Heaven

This is the first part of explaining the lyrics on the new album. 

What about this song Born In Heaven?  There are really not that much to say about it, the lyric speaks for itself. 

As a believer there is always a sense of waiting for a better world. When you become a believer there is might a resurrection of that part of the soul where the spirit lives. The spirit sen to live in us always long for its home; heaven above. It might seems odd but there is for sure always a longing for something else.

Another way to look it is that we do not belong in a inperfect world. That is why we always struggle with issues like life and death, good and evil.

Yet another way to view it is thinking about the Holy One Jesus Christ. He was born in some sense in Heaven (even though he in reality always was and is) and sent to us to redeem and save us.

Some thoughts and it would be really nice to discuss over a cup.

Rehearsal for video recording

Today we tried out a new setup for the upcoming video. It was really fun to, for the first time in months, to spend some time in the rehearsal room together. This was the first time I played together with my son Adam Bengtsson. As drummer for this session is Jimmi Elfwing.

Back in the Studio again

What to do when the sun is shining and I got a day off from work? Well why do not keep on recording demos and open up the archives? So today I opened up the opening track from the first album 'The Demon and the Angel'; Heaven Or Hell. There will be a remix someday released might be two or more; who knows?

New T-shirt, final cover art design and video

Tonight I spent my time designing a new T-shirt for the new album and finished off the last details on the cover art.

This morning I was sent the last version of the promotional video for reviewing. There are some minor changes but the result is stunning. In a few days we will announce when the video will go live.

Photoshoot for promotion and video

Tonight we took a trip to two separate locations. The first one was an old mine no longer in use in a very hidden area very few know about. The weather was perfect and not too cold. The second one was inside Ifö Center. The result is already promising. Soon and very soon

Today I collected the original painting from my local post office for the new upcoming album BEYOND. And what a piece of art it is, love it!

Exclusive Prelisten

Two days ago I invited Anette Persson, my dearest, for a exclusive preview or should I say pre-listen?
I offered som snacks (pix below) and we shared an intense moment of listen and me explaining who the musicians were and who played what. She thought the album was diverse and was really impressed with all the work and the outcome.

Sampler + video = true

The sun is shining and the weather is steaming! In more than one sense I should say.

Today I have mixed a sampler promo. This will soon be released to my youtube channel. Together with the soundtrack Pasi Rautsiala will produce a video. He is a top notch video producer and hopefully this will be the start of a new partnership.

Coverdesign completed and approved

Now the time has come for the album cover to be completed. Just a few days ago I was sent the final painting digitally from the brilliant Maria Farnestam and it was good! Some minor changes has been performed during the process. This is all a original idea from me put to painting by Maria. And as an extra treat I will get the real painting sent to me for further processing and finalizing the coverart. This is truly a great day!

Note! I guess you are curious about the cover art but you have to wait my friends to see how great it looks.

DDP finished

Tonight the DDP-file was created. This means the production of CD and LP can be finalized and that soon the music can be released. Stay tuned for promos and release date for album.

Mastering completed!

Finally the day has come! Today we agreed to the new album being mastered and completed. We will now round this up and soon a promo will be out.

Right now my skilled friend Richard Gerthsson is mastering the album and it sounds brilliant. It might be done today.

Mixing approved

Today I have approved the mixing. Next step in the process is to master and this will be performed in the days to come.

We are excited about how good it sounds and finally reached the completing stages of releasing this new album. I have learned a lot as well as we have changed recording styles and so forth.

Avantgarde

Last tonight one of my closest friends came to pay me a visit. He is the first one who listened to the album and he thought it sounds great. And he namned the style for Daevidius in a different manner. He called it "avantgarde metal" so I think this is the way we will tell what genre Daevidius is. I have earlier called the style "progressive metal" but I really think this new labelling is more accurate.

So from now on Daevidius play avantgarde metal.

Updates from studio

Updates from the studio...

The last days the guitars recorded by Dee has been re-recorded again with a new microphone setup. Last week all bass was re-recorded with a new better sound, a little more intense and tougher.

The mixing is in the shadows again...

Some days are tough....

This day was a tough one... When mixing we noticed we need to alter some things in the bass lines as well as some intro on guitar.... This will require new recordings to achieve the goal. Sad but true. But this is just a minor delay; we have hopefully soon completed all remaining work.

Mixing soon done

Yesterday we completed the first stage of mixing. Next phase is to automate and add some minor changes. And it sounds great. We compared the recording with other world renowned bands in different styles of music but still in the metal style; we both agree it is sounding really good.
