Update from the camp

Right now we are working on the drums and the guitars. We are rearranging some of the drum tracks and are as well working with mixing as heavy guitars as possible.

Studio update: New Monitors

Today; finally we have updated the monitors in the studio. For good assistance I had my friend Rickard G over. The cables were not fitting so they had to  be replaced by new ones. Now the last phase of the premix and altering can be finished properly.

The new monitors are Adam 5V.

Run for cover

Last weekend I got the first draft of the new cover from the artist Maria Farnestam. This weekend we have taken yet bigger steps and in a few weeks I think we have the coverart completed.

I am thrilled and excited; this will be good.

It is fulfilled

And so it is.... It is fulfilled. The last piece in the puzzle... Tonight we recorded the last solo (for Revelator). The excellent Anders Jönsson made it sound really good. All remaining now is full attention to mixing. We are still waiting for some hardware, hopefully we get it this week.

Mixing in process + Design of coverart

The latest two weeks has been intense and now we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Two days ago we worked hard in the mixing and now it begins to sound really good. We have had some technical difficulties with some software but we now are on our way.

Worth mentioning is as well the process with covers design. Our artist Maria Farnestam has presented the first versions of the cover and I think it will be really good.

Logic out Reaper in

Today we made the switch from Logic to Reaper since we had some problems with performance during premixing in Logic. And that turned out to be a good switch! Now just remaining are some guitar with soloing and so on. We are on our way for sure!

Mixing and recording ... Do not growl

Last weekend we came to the conclusion there will be no growl vocals at all on this album. This week we have cleaned up the project and started to work more efficient.

Yesterday we managed to produce some sort of raw mix but there is still much to do.

Live?

Today I visited a friend of mine, a real rocking drummer. Half a year ago we talked about getting together and form an live act for Daevidius. The meeting went well and the first step on a new path might have been tread. Most important when looking to new members in a band is the heart and the passion they have. This man for sure has passion.

So; if everything works out, there could be a chance to see us live performing some songs.

Producer Rickard Gerthsson onboard

Today a friend of mine came to visit just to catch up and sit down for a talk. I told him the album is soon finished with all guitars and everything. There is just some solos remaining. So we walked into the studio and started listening to the songs. All of a sudden we were mixing! And now Rickard Gerthsson has agreed to work as a coproducer on the upcoming album. Next week we will start mixing for real.

This will be a nice treat!

Solos in progress

Yesterday, when recording, editing, mixing and planning for one of my other projects, Caeca Fide I asked my comrade and partner in crime Anders Jönsson if he could record one or two solos for the Daevidius upcoming album. Of course was the answer. So he recorded a beautiful solo for Revelator.

Solo recording Start up with new Guitarplayer

Today we started recording solos for the upcoming album. We have a new player in town; Jonathan. This day we finished the solo for the first track Born In Heaven and we have more ideas about the other tracks. This will be exating!

What's Going on?

So what's going on in the Daevidius camp?

The mixing process is on the way and we are making progress. Still we have some solos to record and hopefully will go down in the weekend to come. In the coming days we will check vocals and might re-record some with new melodies, who knows?

Update Latest week

A week passes by so fast and now we have passed over to September.

So whats going on in the camp? Well the solos for all songs are in progress. The written solos are completed and will the coming week or so be recorded. This job will be split between Dee and Jonathan K. The project are moving into the premix phase and the mixing will start shortly with the most basic.

Guitar Solos on the go

The last couple of days has been inspiring to say the least!

Just a few days ago I talked with a friend of mine Teddie about music. We talked about recording and stuff and I mentioned I needed a solo guitar player. He told me about a former band mate of his and that I should contact him about this. So I did.

Now we are planning the solos and I have showed him some ideas that I have. Hopefully it will be that I play some of the solos and he do some.

Completed - Guitar works (almost)

Just tonight we finished off the last details of recording the guitars; both 1st and 2nd. Remaining when it comes to guitars are solos and there might be a new player in town...

This weekend will be for cleaning up the project and think about sound, balance. volume and the first stages of mixing. There might be som altering when it comes to drums for example. This will be fun!

New Player in Town

The two last days I have a celeber visitor in my studio. It is my son, Adam Bengtsson, who has agreed to be part of the upcoming album. So we recorded guitarparts for two tracks and it went like a charm. He is so talented and gifted. He lifted the songs a couple of notches. Maybe he will be an executive producer for the album?

It is so fun to work with him. And it is not impossible that we start a new project or band together in the future.

Recycled but new

These last weeks focus has been on recording the guitar parts. This work is still ongoing.

In this work I realized one of the songs there not good enough to make the cut. Or rather is was not heavy enough for the style you are used to from Daevidius.

The song I dropped is Hour of Freedome. In its place I have put an another track I earlier planned to have on the album; Never Surrender aka Killing Yourself. For this I wrote a new lyric with the same meaning as Hour of Freedome. The "new" song will be titled Return Come Back.

Heading for Borgholm Brinner!

Just a week ago I attended a competition for tickets to a festival in Sweden; Borgholm Brinner! The catch for getting tickets was just to agree to document the experience and that is  an easy task for me. So next weekend there will yet another more days of from the studio. But the progress is on and I still have hopes for recording most of the guitars before mid august. Let us pray for that to happen!

Preparing for recording guitars

Today I was visited by a brilliant Guitar Master Christian Debäck. We practiced some tracks and as well had a walk through some other guitar parts. There will some smaller adjustments but I feel we are on the right way. It was a fun and awesome session in the studio. Thanks & cheers Christian

Updating studio for better result in the Mi

Yesterday and today I have updated me studio gear software wise. I have installed EZ Mix 2 and six packs according to the Producer Pack för free I got Andy Sneap EZ Mix.

This will be exciting to see how this will turn out!

Rebooting guitars and mixing

This week is the first of this years vacation and I will make sure I spend it well. Today is the startup for recording guitars and later today I will make sure some guitars will be recorded. I am excited!

The preperation for mixing is also on the way. There are new exciting plugins that I will use this time around. Can not hardly wait for it!

Live Long Grow Old

Sometimes it is really good to be reminded of that you can be strong and bold even when you get older. There are som good examples out there. For example; yesterday I saw Dee Snider Live at Helge Å Festivalen i Knislinge, Sweden. The energy that man bring is totally awesome. And the gig was brilliant as well.

So keep up the good work and let noone tell you you're too old.

Update from the Studio - Growl in the making

It was a while ago I updated you guys. So thats new in the ranks?

Today I laid down growlish vocals on all songs. To be truthful there are not that much growl on the songs just lite bits an pieces. This was the first time ever recording growl and it sounds pretty good actually to my ears anyway.

In the last month the vocals has yet again been recorded and it sounds pretty neat.

Sweden Rock Festival calls

Now that time of year has come again when I head off to Sweden Rock Festival. But I still time in the Studio during early mornings since I live nearby. It is only 20 minutes by car.

Studio update (Vocals + Bass)

This week is a week of from my day job. The sun is shining and summer is on its way even if these northern parts of the world. And what could be better than to spend time in the studio? You know there is never too good or bad weather to not spend time in the studio.

So what to do this day and the days to come?
1. The clean vocals for Hour of Freedome will be recorded.
2. All basslines will be re-recorded with a new approach. It will be exciting.

New tracklisting Part II

In January I thought it was the last song or track list finalized for the album. This was not the case. Tonight I wrote the last song (Hour of Freedome) and now it is final. The changes are:

- The One Who See. Now with new title and new lyrics.
- Killing Yourself. First it was retitled as Never Surrender and two lyrics; Killing Yourself and Never Surrender was blended together to come out as Never Surrender.
- Hour of Freedome. A new track written in this month to replace Never Surrender.

The new, and final, track list (at least which songs that will be on the album) is:

Gaming and songwriting

Tonight yet another chapter of writing music for games was conducted. My son, Adam Bengtsson, was at my studio and together we created a sample for his gaming projects. This is just in the beginning of a new era I think. And it is a challenge for real when we are working with old programs and face real challenges. Anyway it was fun!

I am also in the process of rewriting lyrics and actually writing a new song for the album. This will mean that the tracks to record on the album will change.

A new chapter in the Music Creating Biz

Tonight I and my son Adam Bengtsson started a new chapter. We created a few seconds of music for his gaming project and it turned out quite good actually. Who knows what will come out of this? Life is not all about Daevidius that is for sure.

New Guitarists

It took just a couple of days before there were new guitar players on board. Thanks to God for being so faithful!

We now have two new guitar players. They are Christian Debäck and Adam Bengtsson. Me myself will also record some guitars.

May 1st Labour day

Yes it truly became a working day. This day are off work, the work spm many of us do for a living since we do not make money on music. This very day I edited all vocals, rewrote some vocal melodies and re-recorded most of it again. And soon we will be there vocally. Still there are backing vocals and growl vocals remaining.

New guitarists needed for the album

In just one week the two guitar players I was collaborating with for the third album due to personal problems has dropped off. I am now looking for new partners in crime. I have a few names on my list.

We just want to wish you all a Happy Easter. This is the most important time of the year, the time when we celebrate the Son of God died for our sins. It was to make it possible to make peace with God and be with Him forever.

Back in the Saddle again

After coming home from a fantastic trip to Israel I am now back in the saddle again. Yesterday I picked up where I left off with the vocals and did some amazing work. All songs got a new touch and the process is now on its way again.

Last day of Studiotime....

Today will be the last session in the recording process for a week or so. Early tomorrow I will travel to Israel for a pilgrimage trip. It will be a fulfillment of a dream I have had for so long time.

Rewriting lyrics and re-record vocals

Two of the songs of the new album has changed titles.

The first one is 'Killing yourself' who changed into 'Never Surrender'. This is really two lyrics put together to new. Some parts of the lyrics where the same e.g. bridge. Could not really get the pieces together completely so I asked my dearest Anette Persson for help. She pointed out the obvious and so a new title with a rewritten chorus was born.

The second one is 'The One Who See' who transformed into 'The Revelator'. The melody just come to me after I prayed and the words where quickly written down on a piece of Post-It. Just a written it down I quickly recorded the melody and it turned out so good.

God works in mystic ways so to speak.

Progress in the vocal section ... and the guitars

This week I had an meeting with Richard Gerthsson, one of the guitarists on the up and coming album. Hopefully the guitars will be recorded during April and May.

We are right looking into having yet two more guitar players on the album.

Just today we finalized the first pre-prod of clean vocals. There will be more vocals added and yet more sessions for recording vocals when the time is right. Our goal is to record the remaining vocal parts in April and May as well.

Preparing... vocals

Small steps we take to reach our goal.... This weekend I will prepare for recording new vocals, both clean and dark growl ones. I am setting up that part of the studio again and will in the coming days start recording. If it will turn out well it will be on the album.

In the period November until the end of January I had a severe cold that affected the vocals. During that time I as well rewrote much of the vocal lines. This time around the lyrics might as well change again in some parts and with them the vocal lines.

Update from the Studio

Tonight we finished the next phase of the recording of the new album from Daevidius. The template for mixing has not been set and the first files (the drums) is not in place.  Not all instruments are fully recorded yet as some guitars and also som vocals remain. But still; small, small steps to something beautiful. And the show will roll on!

Next progress in the recording

Just the other night I started up the process of creating a full preparation for mixing and mastering of the next album. I feel very exited and this will be really nice. Still there a lot of guitars and solos and finalize vocals left but it we are for sure soon be reaching the goal. The time table and plan to release it will hold!

Just yesterday I created a new SoundCloud account. I think this will be really helpful for me in the progress of all the projects I am involved in. In other words it is not just for Daevidius. Right now there are no material but at least now we have a workspace.

New chapter on vocals; Growl!

I have decided to add som growl vocals on the upcoming album. This will be a new experience for me. Right now I am taking a speed course in growl and much of my focus the coming weeks will be on learning this as fast as possible. May God help me.

However the most of the vocals will still be clean. Right now just parts of the songs will be clean vocals. Some of the songs will include just clean vocals.

Demo vocals completed

After been working on several projects as well as this one, I have now finalized demos with vocals for all songs on the upcoming album for Daevidius. It is always a progress and it takes times, especially when you have a day job it takes a lot longer. But now I have something to rehearse from. This will be really nice.

Next step in recording vocals is to add growl to some of the songs. Still, the main thing will be clean vocals.

Updates of Studio

Just this morning I updated my Studio with some new plugins from Native and Waves. I think this will make the recording stand out even more on all future projects and bands I am in involved in. This year 2019 will be a busy year!

Studio update

Last day of the month and the progress is on. Still working on the demotracks mostly vocals right now. Have been rewriting so much of the vocals but finally we are soon there. It blows my mind to think I have been working on this album for five years and that the release will be five years after the last one. But I think when it is released that it will be worth it all.

New version of webbsite daevidius.se

Today was the launch of the updated version of the webbsite. It is more adapted to use on mobile devices even though it is still not perfect. New updates will be applied during this year.

Recording an album is a process. Sometimes it is instant and sometimes it is slow. This time around it is slow. However; now it seems like I got a track list that seems final. At least, 100% for sure, the first and the last song is set.
