Merry Christmas

Update vocal status

Three weeks has passed and finally it seems like the horse throat is healing. I still have not been able to record any proper tracks but I have analyzed the demo vocals recorded so far. And as I listen I realize my throat has been in a bad condition for a long time. Another thing I have noticed is that I have been on a threshold vocally for a while and now has passed that threshold. In the coming days during the christmas holiday I hopefully will record some awesome vocals.

On Hold

Just 1 1/2 week ago it was like I was on top of the World. Then this world reminded me of futility and how fragile we really are. I got this intense cold resulting in making it to hard to practice any songs. So I have rested and preparing other stuff. And soon I will take up the pieces of me and move along. Just a few more days and I will be back in full strength again.

In the Studio: Demo Vocals finished

The album is in great progress. Just today I finished recording demo vocals for all songs. And this is in despite of me having a severe cold. I thought this weekend would be lost for recording but it has not been. Thanks to God for answering my prayers!

Now is to practice these demo tracks as good as possible. This is truly a good day!

A New Statement: Jesus Christ as tattoo

Last weekend I went to Copenhagen and get a new tattoo. This has been in the pipeline for quiet a while and finally I got it done. It worked out so much better than I ever could believe and hope. As the body is a living canvas it is hard to get everything right.

The final design was made in association with Lin Kaliyuga. I just came up with the idea of Jesus Christ on the cross, the rest is hers.

Next step: Recording and rehearsing vocals

Just today I started recording the first attempts on vocals. I have, as mentioned earlier, noted down some vocal melodies by recording them with guitar. This will not always be the exact way to record the vocals when I am singing but they will be guidelines. And today the inspiration flowed! But in order for it to be as good as possible I will have to use an external producer to make great things even greater!

Melodies for vocals completed

Yesterday I wrote the last vocallines. I have used a new way to record the melody on vocals. Instead of writing it down on paper I used one of my guitars and as the tape rolled I recorded the melody I had in my head. Of course it is just a guideline to the vocals but it will pretty much be the way I will sing.

Yet another step towards finish the album.

In pipeline now is the guitars to be recorded.

Bass Complete

Just today I have recorded the last of the bass tracks. Just a couple of days ago I finished writing the last song or rather the rewriting and renaming of one song.  The evening tonight I will play live with a another band not related to this band. It will be nice.

At last ... Complete

At last I have finalized writing all the songs for the album. All songs were really complete one year ago but I thought to myself: "I can do better". And so I did. This is the final cut. Now it all has to be recorded and them mixed and mastered. Like they say: "Everything worth doing is worth overdoing". And so it is this time around.

Time to celebrate, plans for the future

Tonight I had a friend come over. It has really nothing to do with Daevidius since it is a new project with mostly slow, acoustic songs. Since there is a "huge" celebration for my next coming birthday in 2019 I need to plan ahead. I just put a songlist together and we tried them out and it worked really fine. Who knows what will lead to in the future? Keep on praying to God for greater things!

Coming together

The process for Daevidius third album has been long and winding. Many twists and many turns. Now it seems like I can see the end of the creative tunnel. And this is good.

For the last two months I have been rewriting the lyrics and also skipped some tracks, rearranging some. Right now there is just one song who needs to be finished in the songwritting.

The song titles for the new album with altered lyrics will be. Note this is not in the correct order.

The sun is shining, the creativity is flowing

The last couple of days the weather has been steaming. Not in the sense of extremely hot, it is autumn but still so good. And as a matter of fact, creativity is flowing.

This last days and nights I have finished the four (4!) last lyrics and new titles has been added. So the track list will be updated shortly. Still there are one song to finished, some guitars are to be done. I think it will be finished in the days to come.

Lyrics and vocals

The process with rewriting lyrics is still on. I thought it was complete but we need to do more changes. Last night Daevidius guitar player no 1 Rickard Gerthsson was in the Studio and we were planning the next steps with guitars. We were trying out some trix with mixing and see what we can do. Hopefully the lyrics will be rewritten this week.

New titles and lyrics

I sat down a week ago and just said to myself: "I need to be more in-your-face with the lyrics. The titles are to common. And just to general." And this weekend I just did that. I asked God to help to be inspired. And in just one day I rewrote them all. Thanks God!

I am really grateful unto God I must say.

Prayer is the key

I just read an article about the life of the actor Mark Wahlberg. He declares he starts every day with prayer to get all done during the day.

I myself has noticed that leaving the day to God in prayer is the right way to go to get much done in the day. When I declare to God that I leave all in His hands events will take a new turn for the better.

So let us all take it to a new level and start the day with prayer! This will change all our lives!

Album design

Just the other day I got an idea for the album design. Or rather; a change for the better. The colour codes for the background has been decided a while ago and now is the question if all the lyrics should be included or not. That is still open for debate.

A month ago; when we were in London, we visited some old abbeys and churches. So this could might be the theme for the design. There are always new ideas and this is a process. Right now I am inspired by St Dunstans Basilika, one of the places we visited. One of the days to come, I will sit down and redesign.

Sing to Yourself... and God

There is a site Verse of the day who shares a daily verse from the bible. I thought the verse for this day was so beautiful.

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:19)

So let´s practice this and sing our hearts out

Remember; even if you don´t play an instrument or write songs you can make melodies in your heart. I think that the highest purpose a human being can have is to sing praise to God. So lets fill the world with our songs! And you will feel good!

New lyrics?

The upcoming album is really an interesting process. As mentioned in earlier posts the songs has been chosen. But now; when I am in the process of recording vocals and the first demos with vocals are coming together the idea came to me: maybe I shall rewrite the lyrics. And also: maybe I shall write just another new song or songs. I want the songs to stand out and especially the lyrics to be in-your-face and provocative and positive for People of The Faith.

So I dug into the deep. I pray that God will help me to make an album that touches and changes and awakens many.

Back to the desk for writing more and change lyrics.

In the phase for ....

The last days I have been working on the vocals for some of the tracks. They are in a demo phase right now and slowly it will come together. I am also certain the guitar for the two last pieces I wrote will be recorded in september or so. Meanwhile I have slowly started to premix and find balance between the instruments. This will of course be working in circles. You know: rense and repeat.

For the next coming days I will go to London to see Iron Maiden. Pray for a good journey without any mishappens and that we will get home safe and sound.

The Heart stops beating....

... when I just shall start rehearsing and drop the bass to the floor. The first thought in my mind was "Oh no I just lost a long time friend". I took a quick look at the mechanics. Just a little piece of the top layer of this material (some kind of composite material, not wood anyway..) I plugged it in and played and it sounded just nice. I think I have to buy just another bass just in case. I ordered spare parts a few weeks ago from China but still they are nowhere to been seen.

Anyway, thanks to God for that the bass did not broke.

Bass Master again

I have posted this post before it seems like. And yes I know I have posted quite similar before.

Today I finished the last of the bass lines for the new album. Since I have rewritten some of the songs I needed to record them again. 

Regarding what songs that will be included; that is still an open question.

Rewritten all over

As you might now I have been rewriting some of the songs of the upcoming Daevidius due to different reasons. And I must say it was a correct decision to make. Today I have finished the last song. And is this process now is completed another issue is calling for action. These changes I have made make it impossible to have the tracklist I have earlier declared. So in the days to come I have to choose which songs to use on this album. There will fewer songs but better songs.

Is Dreams a vision of the future?

Can dreams foretell the future? Yes I think they can. Many times dreams are just a way of cleaning the brain. They are ways to cope with the overflow of information, to get rid of waste. But there are times when dreams can speak of the future. The key to make this happen is to believe it is possible. We got to have faith. And we all have faith if we allow us to have hope and faith and decide to step out of the logical thinking without morals. We need to connect our logics with dreams in faith and hope.

Just a few nights ago I had a dream about the upcoming album 'Beyond'. It might should be handled in a another way. For now I keep the dream in hiding and pray God to lead the way.

Never stop dreaming and believing! It is the only way!

World Cup

Despite the fact it is World Cup (yes I love fotball or as americans say; soccer) the process with recording is really ongoing. And yet again there are some parts that needs to rewritten and rearranged. So I mix fotball and music and love. I think it works perfect.

Irony of life

Sometimes when everything is just going fine something happens. This night was one of these times. Just as I was getting ready to record the bass guitar broke down sort of speak. So instead of a recording session it became a shop session. I am glad that the World Cup is on the telly.

Summer is here (Sweden Rock Festival)

The last weeks has been intense weatherwise. The sun is shining and it is unusually hot. For a creative mind like mine it is a true challenge. So thanks to God for a good apartment and my fan that helps me when I am recording, editing, mixing and so on.

Yesterday I was working for Sweden Rock Festival as I am doing every year. It is fun to interact with people that you seldom meet. And it is fun to work with your body. Next week the festival will take place so I will not have that much time to record or mix. But I will try!

Sometimes struggling...

Sometimes life can seem hard and unfair. Important to remember in these kind of situations is to keep your eyes on Jesus Christ, the Lord and Saviour of our Souls. Meditate on this word of the Bible

Laying down guitars II

It took me 10 days to lay down the basic 2nd Guitars. One of the things with this is that I realized that some of the parts are really tricky so I hade rewritten some parts and I will rewrite yet one or two songs. It can only get better and more catchy!

And of course; I have not recorded all parts. Many of the parts has already been recorded by Rickard Gerthsson and he is still on the job.

During a break... Itching ears

During a break in the progress with the new album a word from the Bible was sent to me. I think it just to the point how this world works today.

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3)

Laying down guitars

Today I started to record some guitarparts. Most of the guitar on the next album (Beyond by Daevidius) will be recorded, or has already been recorded. by my friend Rickard Gerthsson. But as usual it is a process to record an album and this time around is no different.

Start looking for that great Bass sound

The last couple of the days I have been trying to find that perfect bass sound. This time around I have recorded two tracks bass at the same time, one digital and one recorded with a SM58 microphone. So this trying to find the perfect bass sound is just related to the digital. Let us be creative.

Keep me in your prayers so that I find what I am looking for.

So now I have recorded all bass and checked them so it sounds right for Daevidius next album BEYOND. I think I have posted this before but since I rewrote 4 songs I needed to rerecord it all over again. On and on and forward till the Kingdome come, right?

All songs written again...

Just a couple of days ago, yet again I finished writing the songs for the next album 'Beyond'. As much as at least four songs have been rewritten and rearranged. I have reused riffs, written new riffs and rearranged many of them. The last song to be written was finished two days ago. And I think they all turned out more original when in their first version. There are many versions of them. The last song written, Prophet, was version number six. Insane I say!

God blesses the creative mind

The last days has become totally awesome! Just finished the process of rewriting some of the songs. Now this is it! In just two days I have rewritten fours songs and it a quite remarkable achievement!
I am convinced it has to do with prayers I spoke to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords; Jesus Christ, the Savior of us all!.

Now I am in the process of remaking the templates for recording and rewriting some of the lyrics.

A different kind of angle

Today was a different day in the Studio. An old friend of mine contacted me a few days back and asked if I could produce a piece of just vocal recording for her art exhibition during the Art Round
in Kristianstad. Of course; a bit of a challenge and maybe something new to add to my portfolio
Her name is Chris Robertson and she runs the company Brown Betty of Sweden. I think it really worked out fine. Dont miss the exhibition in Kristianstad!

First-Class Fool

Benefits

As I have stated so many times before and especially in the latest blogpost, life move in circles. Earlier in Daevidius I have been pushing things just to be finished. Looking back; I can see how this has not benefitted Daevidius. Right now I am not sure the schedule will be kept and this is OK.

Lately I have been struggling with thoughts of losing friends and so on. I have been praying to God to change this. And the latest week I have seen God answers prayer. This is what we need to do. Pray a lot more.

Even if it turns out the album will be released later than planned, it is ok. Better to let things have their way and God work in me.

Living in cycles

Life it seems is like moving in cycles. And so it is especially with this album as well. As you have seen in the updates during the fall of 2017 and the beginning of this year, so many times I have thought I was done. I have now realized this is not the case. Right now I am working on reprogramming drums, rewriting riffs, rewriting drums and most of all simplify.

First inofficiell promo

Tonight I finished the first promo for Beyond. This will not be an official one, just for a selected few ones. And it is still in a very raw state. There are so much more work to be done. But slowly we are progressing. And as usual, the first song is always the hardest one since that one sets the benchmark for the rest of the lot.

Studio update - Vocals on the go

This weekend I have started to record vocal tracks and premixing bass and drums. Today I recorded the first attempt on vocal tracks for four songs. Amazing how well it went. And I could have finished more vocals if the lighting in the studio would have been better. When recording vocals I have the lyrics for my memory to check, thats why.

Recording bass completed...

For the last month or so I have been recording bass. I don't know how many versions I have recorded but finally it seems like tonight we have a result. You got to work hard to really come to a result.

Now we keep on going for guitars and vocals... and mixing ... and designing...

Guitar tone and making guitars sound perfect

Tonight I went to the main Guitar Player of Daevidius new album. He is a great guy and we spent the evening making my Gibson Les Paul intonated to sound great and to make it be really playable in the way I want it to be. We also agreed on that he will play on most tracks or maybe even all tracks.

Design upstarted for real

We are still in the process of recording and pre-mixing. But just the other day I finally come around to getting the process up and running on the design of the album. We have also established a partnership with an artist who in co-operation with Dee Bee will develop a nice cover. And there are some ideas in the making.
