Steam - Amnesia: The Dark Descent

One of the greatest things in life is having sons and daughters. I have been blessed with two sons and the oldest one is a brilliant upcoming star in programming. This week he got a "Others worth mentioning" in the category Best Amnesia Custom Stories on Steam. What a thrill!

Nothing new on the frontlines

Nothing new really is happening. I am still writing the last song for album 3 from Daevidius. Preparing the tracks for recording bass is also on the way; I think in the end of the month I will begin to lay down the basstrack. Maybe I have an executive producer on the way in...

(Song Series XIII) - Why I wrote 'To War'

It is sometimes tough out there. I think as myself as a warrior. And these last years it has been challenging and tough for me personally. I have staggered and many times I have fallen from grace in my own eyes. So this song is a sort of a creed, a call to arms.

The song 'To War' is inspired by the Bible and Ephesians 6:10-19 who talks about the armour of God. And we need to wear it every day. And this song will encourage both you and me to fight for whats right, just and good.

Teardrops

What a day it turned out to be! A friend of mine and a true musician came to visit. The intention was to kick off a new restart. And how well it went; it is amazing! We rewrote an old song from the archives. This is the first steps on a new journey; this will be truly great!

Just let the teardrops fall from the sky and water the dry soil and reborn all that was dead!

Silver Lining

On this day the snow came to Sweden. I really love this time of year.  And as a sign from above, despite the times we are living in,  I got a report from CD Baby that we sold more albums the old style, in other words; CD:s. The dead man still walks....

Rain is falling...

The rain has kept falling mostly of the day today. And as the weather sometimes is stormy, windy or cold our lifes can be. We are all facing struggles and battles in different areas every day. Some days are good, some are worse. I believe we live in a turbulent time when we as humans; when we as warriors sometimes get exhausted. I have faced that this week. So why not write a poem about this? And here it is!

The skies are clouded

The battle is overwhelming
Could we live the night to see the break of dawn?

(Song Series XII) - Why I wrote 'Sons Of God'

This song has so many levels to me. First of all I tried to write a son like 'Leave me Alone' but without the growl from the first album. And in a technical sense I succeeded... Even though it is always bad to copy yourself. Secondly this is to honour my two Sons not to be afraid and tell them to be courageous and strong and tell them how proud I am of them. And thirdly; this is a creed for the spiritual fight we all are involved in. Waiting for the King of kings to return!

Next step or turn?

Life is truly a funny thing. Yesterday I went to the store to shop for the weekend. As I was getting my milk and eggs an old friend approached me. We hugged and started talking, getting updates on how our lives is and what is going down. It turned out she is involved in a project that if all turns out good will have shows internationally. She asked if I was interested; and I said why not. So who knows what will happen? I lay it all in the hands of God Almighty. This could be one of the next steps to take....

Into the studio....

Finally we are slowly moving into the recording process. The last week the setup, and plan, for the recording phase was setup and it is looking fine. Still there will of course be som changes. And the progress on the last song is in its last stages. In the tight schedule we all living I plan for recording every night. I know this will not be possible but I try to achieve this.

(Song Series XI) - Why I wrote 'I Hate Religion'

The theme of the song 'I Hate Religion' has been around in my mind for so long before coming to realisation. I think the idea of the song emerged around 2002. In my mind this is one of my best moments, I really love this song.

At a first glance you might think I hate God as a concept. That is not a correct way to understand it. This song deals with bigotry in religion and the structure of power they often represent. We don't need religion, we need true friendship with an almighty living loving God Jesus Christ. So many religions seems nice and proper but they don't bring life or love. The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ, not religion or pius deeds. No deed we do can achieve salvation.

So many religious people, even including ourselves, does not show the way to heaven. No they close the door and the gates and denies entry for all. Let's get rid of religion and strive for relationship with God Jesus Christ! Hate Religion but Love God!

Dreams come true?

Today I woke up after having a totally awesome dream. I dreamt about a international recording was taking place in my Home Studio. A semi-famous jazzdrummer who owns a studio I recorded in a few years back came knocking on my door with gears and stuff with him. He cleaned out the whole Home Studio and put in bassamps och began to setup things. Other musicians turned up; people I've recorded and played with before, people I am planning on working togeter with. And my sons were there as well. Could this be a prophetic dream? (Song Series X) - Why I wrote 'M.P.W.G.' (Time for 'Valley of Death' album)

Time for album number 2! On this song I've decided just to have eight songs. From the start it was meant to be 10 songs but I decided to exclude the songs 'Freedome is Coming' and 'King of Kings'.
They simply just did not work and in the end I think was meant to be

So, the first song the album 'VALLEY OF DEATH' is M.P.W.G. The music is inspired by Iron Maiden and the way they wrote some of the songs on 'Somewhere in Time' and especially the song 'Deja-Vu'.

The lyrics is a neat story about someone who is on the edge of dying and calls out to God. Thsi can be applied in all situations in life. It is never too late to call out to God to be saved! Not until you are dead anyway.

This is the last song on the album 'THE DEMON AND THE ANGEL'. This was one of the first songs I decided to be on that album. I really love this song. It was first recorded back in 2009 for a never released demo and it is written in 2006.

The lyrics has two different focuses. Focus one is how tired you and I can become of the evil of this world. Focus two is a more hidden one. You and I are just guests here, we belong to another world and to another city. The train is leaving for a better world.

(Song Series VII) - Why I wrote 'Judgement Day'

Judgement Day is one of the oldest songs on Daevidius first album 'The Demon and The Angel'. Even though all credits for the song is on the behalf of David Dee Bee Bengtsson; in reality Anders Jönsson did a lot for this song to be as great as it became. This was first recorded on a unreleased demo back in april 2009. The solo is a first take that just came out great!

The lyrics paints a black picture and is poetic in its nature. It is subtile and no in-your-face-lyrics. There are many layers and many views. For example:
- The Guardians watching over us, They are those who pray for us and fight against the unseen evil powers.
- The men of power. Politicians and many others are working for world peace and pay no attention to whoever they make alliances with.
- All evil shall fall. When Judgement is upon us true justice will be declared.
- Messiah is supreme. Jesus Christ ends judgement day in a positive spirit when true peace will come for all.

Finally, we are starting recording. In the first phase we are working on the drums and bass. Or maybe I start with the synths. There is so much going on right now outside the music so I pray all pieces in the puzzle will fall into place.

Yet another path tread upon Part II

Tonight yet another path is tread upon. I met up again with an old friend of me, one of the best most skillful guitarists I ever played and recorded with. He laid down some really good solos on the first album, by Daevidius 'The Demon and The Angel. His name is Anders Jönsson. We have not spoken since summer 2012.

Earlier this year it just come to my mind, it might have been God talking; why don't you contact Anders Jönsson and see if there still is some common ground? It took me about half a year before I send him an old style letter. He responded very quickly and tonight we met up. Over a cup of coffee we set the path for the time to come. And if it all fall into place it will truly be awesome! So many good ideas, so many creativity. Let us all praise God with our creativeness!

(Song Series VI) - Why I wrote 'Desert Land'

I believe to grow you have to die. And I don't mean psychically, but spiritually. And die to what some call the flesh. I believe in order to grow some parts of what we think is our personality has to go. And it has to be in accordance to our own will.

When we are in such a Desert Land when everything seems hopeless, there is no future just darkness. We have no hope of nothing ever changes for the better; thats the place we die. Compare with a seed. In order for the seed to became a great tree it has to die. I think in the same way we have to die away from things we think are in our personality and a part of us to become someone great. And not in a arrogant way with pride in it worst meaning.

Therefore; let us walk through the Desert Land believing there is a brighter day day, knowing God knows more than I do and He keeps me safe from harm.

(Song Series V) - Why I wrote 'Unborn'

This songs is from the viewpoint of a aborted child. It starts off with the dreams and hopes of this individual if it had been born and ends with the pain of the abortation. Partly this song is inspired by the american band Barren Cross and their song 'Killers of the Unborn'. This is a really hard issue to discuss since it has so much to do with guilt. We in Daevidius always think all are equal in the eyes of God and that no sin or action can't be forgiven and the scars coming with our actions can be healed.

Therefore; all life should be protected at any age. Celebrate Life!

It is one of these songs I wrote back in 2006. The lyrics in itself is a story about someone who is about to die under gunpoint. He knows in his heart that even if he dies he will get his revenge. It is not about being a zombie or something like that, no it is about always be ready to meet our Maker.

The motiva behind the song is always to be ready. What we saw we will reap. Always be helpful towards those in need. Ask God how to help out in your community.

Yet another path tread upon

Tonight, one of my best friends came over with his acoustic guitar. We took a cup of coffee and shared some songs. We are about to tread just another path on our  musical journey. It is really not Daevidius at all but it doesn't matter. Just a teaser, we will be working together now in the future. This will be exiting!

(Song Series III) - Why I wrote 'The Demon and The Angel'

Some years ago, in 2010, I divorced my wife. This was due to many reasons. And the fact was, and in some ways still is, mostly on my part. Problems occured and was present during my marriage that never was dealt with, primarly due to us dont knowing what was causing the drama.

Shortly afterwards I wrote the song 'The demon and The Angel'.

The song is about two central themes:
1. A relation turning bad with a lot confussion of what to do.
2. The battle between good and evil.

The first theme is pretty obvious I think. The other one is pretty subtile. The first two verses is from the demons perspective; just leave me alone, I want to torment you angel, confused but still clear in his mind that the angel is superior and can smite him down any second. Still he knows in his mind the battle is lost but he still wants to carry on. And in the third verse you can see this quite clear. He wants to reach for freedome but realize the case is lost in reality. And the third verse really implies more to the first theme.

Psalm 33:3 - Play it loud!

I read the Bible this morning. And there was a beautiful message to us all Metal Heads and Songwriters (the scripture is from Psalm 33:3):

Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully [on the strings] with a loud and joyful sound.

So let us all celebrate this weekend by writing songs and play it loud! And sing songs to God on full volume!

And by the way; the last two songs is in process to be completed, hopefully this weekend. Soon we can begin to record new songs.

(Song Series II) - Why I Wrote 'Traveller'

Do you remember the song 'Stranger in a strange Land' by Iron Maiden (from the album 'Somewhere in time' (1986))? This is partly one leg of the inspiration of the lyrics of this song, 'Traveller'. Another inspiration for the song 'Only Visiting this planet' by Larry Norman (R.I.P.). The theme, in a very sublime way, that we are only strangers here. We can not find what we are looking if we are not looking to the true source, the creator of all we see, God Father of All. If we look to other places we can find some kind of relief but we will still be wanting. And we still will be longing for some other place after we have reached what we thought we searched for.

The theme is two different persons. One dies and goes to Heaven, the other one dies and go to Hell. The idea is why discuss if these places are fictional or real, we all will know when we die. Will we live forever? Will we all go to Heaven? Is there a Hell? Noone really knows, It is just a matter of acceptance and belief. It is irrelevant of what you and I think. One day we will know what was true and what was false.

Songwriting in full bloom

Could the summer be better than it is right now? It is cloudy, the temperature is moderate. And I am free from my dayjob. So what does it mean? Shouldn't we complaining about what is going down? About the "bad weather"? I say no!

It is perfect weather for songwriting in other words! And tonight we will complete the 8th track that might be recorded for the new album. Inspired like never before, it is really moving forward!

In the coming weeks and months I will reveal what every song yet published by Daevidius meaning to me. And above all why I wrote these songs. So stay posted!

I Know How To Die

The songwriting keep progressing. Right now I am writing on a song to be titled Beyond. The lyrics is about what lies beyond the curtain of death. Is there something beyond? Do we live on? Noone really knows. And even if someone came back from the dead, would we believe him/her? I don't think so...

Sometimes we think to much about dying. Sometimes we think to much about living. But one thing is for sure. I know how to die. I wish for to die as a Soldier of the spiritual realm. I wish to die fighting for every hurt soul out there. I know how to die.

Halfway through?

Tonight I finished the fifth song for the next album. In the wings there are also songs completed that might could fit. Still have not decided if we will record mostly fast songs or mostly heavier songs. So in reality we have maybe ten songs completed. But which one to be on the album; that's another question.

Is your heart in it?

I am convinced that you need to have your heart in it to be really successful. In this time and age (and probably all other times as well..) success equals money and fame. But In my mind that is not true. If you think about many of those we hold for celebrities from yesteryears, is it those who were the most rich or the most popular? In some cases, yes but I think in most cases, no.

The only way to feel good about what you do, if you are a musician or not, is to have your heart in it. It does not guarantee that everyone thinks your great but it produces a satisfaction greater than life. And the result may linger on.

Nothing new but it is inspiring

We are still working on new songs. And it looks like, at last, new songs are coming quite quickly, Hope and pray this trend will continue. And right now we are preparing to record. There will be new ways of doing things that need to be learned.

Progress?

We are still working on songs for the New album. In the making right now is a song called Gates Of Hell and it will be a blast.

The plan is to write a song every week. Keep your fingers crossed and we will began to record in the autumn.

Jesus is risen

Happy Easter and A blessed Good Friday!

Daevidius would just like to wish you all Happy Easter on Good Friday 2016. Daevidius celebrate Easter to remember Jesus Christ. He died for us so that we can live with Him (1 Thessalonians 5:10)

Focus paying off

I remember when I was a young man. My mother told how great it was that I had so many ideas but that I have to do one thing at a time. Did I really listen? No, I did not. I still have so many dreams and plans and so little time.

Last weekend I decided that my only goal for my time off from work was just to write one song. At first I thought it would take me three hours. I took me appr. seven hours. But guess if I was glad. I achieved my goal!

So now my goal for the coming months are to complete a song every week. If I can stick to my new plan it will result Daevidius will have enough songs for the third album.

Time to focus

The last days I have been sick. And as a result you have to slow down a little bit. Maybe think about what you are doing. In my case my brain is always all around the place all the time. And sometimes there is a bit of revelation. It may be God speaking in the silence.

The conclusion of all this: It is time to focus on one thing at a time. For Daevidius this  is now all about songwriting. No more time to waste to write those ten songs for the next album. Can I write one song every week. It should really be no problem at all.

The process... The update

Sometimes the creative process is slow. Right now much of time spent is about physical health and thinking about the old songs, You see; I think of re-recording the songs Daevidius has released on the two first albums. It is really about remixing and remastering and maybe rerecording vocals and maybe even rearrange some of them. Daevidius have not yet decided the details.

On the other hand; Daevidius are still writing songs for the upcoming album. And as well we might redesign our webbsite.

The right path to take?

The last days of 2015 was interesting in many ways. And think we all have been touched by Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister's passing. I surely have been contemplating theses last weeks.

One album who really touched me is the album W.A.S.P. released earlier in the autumn of 2015. And I pray that God will lead the way.

I am still writing material for the upcoming album and the pieces are slowly falling into place. The titletrack from W.A.S.P:s album "Golgatha" surely set the beat and showed me the way to go.
